We have a rather unique application that includes a proprietary language specifically designed to address our clients' business. Complex formulas and algorithms must be translated into C-code and DLLs generated. We needed to find a solid C compiler / linker that would handle the complexity of the generated code and produce fast executables. We also wanted to bundle the compiler with our application to simplify the installation process for the client.

After much searching we found Lcc-Win32. It was exactly what we were looking for and provided everything we needed without a lot of extras. To date, we have deployed nearly 500 copies of the system and have had very few problems. When issues have come up, the support we've received has been timely and the responses helpful and thorough. Since we bundle the compiler with our application, price was also a concern. Lcc-Win32 is very competitively priced and provides great value to our customers.

It has been nearly three years since we made our decision to go with Lcc-Win32 and we are still very happy with our choice. More importantly, our clients are happy.

This is what educators say about using lcc-win32 in teaching the fundamentals of the C language:

Fairly easy to use and install
Limited to C, students won't get confused about C++, .NET etc (as tends to happen with MS tools)
Shows code errors better than a combination of a compiler + stand alone editor (for example mingw + some editor)
License: students can download it off the net => no problems in doing homework on their personal computers.

Their objection about lcc-win32 was: The one thing causing problems is the need to create a project in order to compile & execute a single .c file. This gets easier as the courses progress, but is a stumbling block in the beginning.
